The MAXLLF.EXE program is designed and intended to be used only with either Maxtor 3.5" IDE/AT hard drives less the 500 MB in capacity or with Maxtor's Mobilemax 2.5" IDE/AT hard drives. MAXLLF.EXE writes zeros to the entire drive surface and if identified, generate an error code. This program can be obtained from Maxtor's Website (http://www.maxtor.com) or the Maxtor Utilities Diskette (MUD). ! WARNING ! All data on the drive will be lost when using this utility. Back up the data on the hard drive before running this utility. Maxtor recommends removing any other hard drive(s) from the system before running this utility.

Dieses DOS-basierende Tool dient zum Sichern und Wiederherstellen ganzer Partitionen - unabhängig vom verwendeten Dateisystem. Damit ist das Utility ideal für Backups von Systempartitionen von Windows 95, Windows NT und so weiter. Das Programm kennt sowohl einen Batch- als auch Assistentenmodus. Probleme bei der Verteilung von Images auf mehrere Datenträgern wurden behoben. Ein neuer Parameter BLOCKSIZE erlaubt es, die maximale Blockgröße eines Partitions-Images anzugeben. Setzt man BLOCKSIZE beispielsweise auf 650 MByte, erhält man Teil-Images, die man bequem auf CD-ROM ziehen kann. In der aktuellen Version werden Festplatten größer als 8 GByte richtig erkannt.

Der Partition Manager kann, wie der Name des Programms schon sagt Partitionen anlegen. Diese kann er dann als FAT16 oder FAT32 formatieren, den Master Boot Record (MBR) erneuern und die Daten Ihrer IDE-Festplatte abfragen. Zudem können mehrere Betriebssysteme auf der Festplatte verwaltet werden. Ein gutes Tool für PC- Proffessionals.

Der PartitionStar der Star-Tools GmbH ist ein Festplatten-Partitionierer, der über den Funktionsumfang von Microsofts FDISK weit hinausreicht. Alle Datei- und Betriebssysteme inklusive Windows 2000 und Linux werden unterstützt. FAT-Partitionen lassen sich verkleinern und formatieren und komplette Partitionen direkt auf eine andere Festplatte kopieren.
